Meet the Presenters
You’ll rub shoulders with some of the world’s best-selling authors and publishing industry professionals and practitioners. Here’s a list of presenters who will be speaking at Australia’s Rainforest Writing Retreat 2017.
Michael Robotham began his career an investigative journalist in Australia and the UK before becoming a ghostwriter, collaborating with the likes of Lulu, Geri Halliwell and Tony Bullimore to produce a dozen best-selling autobiographies. His psychological thrillers have been translated into 22 languages and have twice won the Ned Kelly award for best Australian Crime Fiction.
Internationally acclaimed author of fantasy, Isobelle Carmody, was recently voted Australia’s Favourite Author for 2016 on Booktopia. Her first book, Obernewtyn, was written when she was just fourteen and it was the first in the popular Obernewtyn Chronicles.
Isobelle has created many works in the fantasy genre and has been honoured with several prestigious literary awards. She writes for adults, young adults and children in novels, picture books and short stories. Isobelle has accumulated a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of writing fiction and will be sharing her insights in her masterclass at the Rainforest Writing Retreat.
Marianne de Pierres
Marianne de Pierres is the author of the popular PARRISH PLESSIS trilogy and the award-winning SENTIENTS OF ORION and PEACEMAKER series. Marianne has also authored children’s and young adult stories, notably the Night Creatures trilogy a dark fantasy series for teens.
Marianne is an active supporter of genre fiction and has mentored many writers. She lives in Brisbane, Australia, with her husband and three galahs (and once upon a time three sons–before they grew up). Marianne also writes award-winning crime under the pseudonym Marianne Delacourt.
Trent Jamieson is a multi-award winning sort story writer and novelist. He is the author of the Death Works series, The Nightbound Land Duology and Day Boy, and he has taught as a sessional academic at QUT, and was a tutor at the intensive writing workshop Clarion South. He was also fiction editor of Redsine Magazine, and has edited short story collections, novels, and anthologies. He is a current recipient of a Queensland Writers Fellowship working on his new novel The Stone Road.
